Machined Vise
Manufacturing
The goal of this project was to create a smoothly operating metal vise to the correct tolerances. We spent a full semester on the project in which we were taught to use machine tools and CNC machines. Most of the vise was machined by hand using a mill and a lathe. The threads were machined on the lathe using an auto feed system and the vise was smoothed using a grinding machine.

During the semester in which I completed this project, I became accustomed to using machining mills and lathes, as well as working with various metals including aluminum and brass. I learned how to use various end mills and specialized tools.
