Personal 3D Printing Project

This 3D print took many hours. The translucent parts are printed in translucent PETG and the black parts are printed in black PLA.
3D Printed Tank
Manufacturing
I downloaded a 3D model of a tank to 3D print it, but the model wasn’t designed to be printed so I modified it. Modifying the 3D model involved editing the work of a previous author in Blender and creating mechanical mechanisms that allowed me to print the model in separate pieces. This included prototyping and testing the tank’s tracks and gears, as well as the tank’s body. I also enhanced the design by creating free-moving and flexible tracks as an alternative to the attached immovable tracks in the original design.
What I did
- Modeled designs using Blender
- Enhanced a 3D model using engineering techniques
- 3D printed the prototypes and final model.
This project taught me how to take 3D models and modify them to be 3D printable. I also learned how to make 3D prints that can attach to each other through snapping mechanisms.
